Yea, great work, Julie. It is wonderful to see - or at least hear about - what you are doing. Like Wade said, can we come for a visit?

Wow, awesome progress...you might try having them use google docs to collaborate instead of a wiki. It allows multiuser editing. Can we visit your islands...?

This summer PWSCC bought 2 islands. One is a homestead to be used for the natural history of PWS. I have put in a lot of work on it. There are no buildings only plants, animals & natural features. I didn't get it done 'enough' to have my natural his…

Hi Chip, I beg to differ with your conclusion that SL was not an effective method of learning for this student. She learned an incredible amount of information about her own culture in a way that she would not have been able to in a standard classro…

Hi Julie, I look forward to using our SL island as a marketing tool for the school as well as the library. I can't use it at home because of our technology issues, though. So, I have to wade through the red tape here. Got good sturdy boot on, though.

What Julie is doing in SL...

This summer PWSCC bought 2 islands. One is a homestead to be used for the natural history of PWS. I have put in a lot of work on it. There are no buildings only plants, animals & natural features. I didn't get it done 'enough' to have my natural history students (Biol v104) work on it this year but will next year. However, I will be using their natural history notes from the blog they did as notecards for specific species. I just had my Biol V105 (majors biology) students work through the st… Continue

Perms meeting on Virtual Ak Mon May 18, 2009

Seleniris, Talliver & I met on Virtual Alaska and started the initial steps for terraforming, based on Talliver's idea. We flattened everything then started etching the coastline in SE & SC, threw up a few mountains and built a prototype Denali. There is lots of work to do and we hope more people will join us for the next meeting, or terraforming party next Monday.
